Pro Bono Partnership has many volunteer opportunities where you can put your legal skills to work helping nonprofits in communities throughout Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. Whether you have a little time or a lot, we would be happy to help you find an opportunity that fits your interests, experience, and schedule.

Sample Projects

  • Contracts – equipment lease agreements, release/waiver forms, special events contracts, shared services agreement, vendor contracts
  • Corporate – creation of corporate entities and subsidiaries, name change or filing d/b/a name, mergers and dissolutions, bylaws reviews, conflict of interest policies, board governance issues
  • Employment – immediate employee issues (e.g., potential terminations, separations), employment manuals or personnel policies, harassment prevention training, worker classification issues, maternity leave, disability, staff restructuring
  • IP – trademark registration of name, logo, proprietary curriculum materials
  • Internet/Technology – developing policies for terms of use, privacy, social media, AI
  • Real Estate – reviewing leases, amendments, licenses, and shared space agreements, advising on landlord / tenant issues, assisting with sale or purchase of real property, advising on environmental issues

The Partnership’s Hallmarks

  • Support from an experienced Partnership Staff Attorney who coordinates with clients and is available for additional support, resources, and forms
  • No training needed, as in most cases, we match legal needs of clients with existing skills of volunteers, on non-litigation projects only, such as contract, corporate, environmental, intellectual property, real estate, tax, and other regulatory matters
  • Professional liability insurance coverage for all volunteers
  • Discrete and manageable projects, all of which can be done remotely
  • Most of our matters are not time-sensitive and do not involve any nonprofit-specific issues, and, if they do, we will make that clear from the start
  • Project reassignment if you get too busy – do not hesitate to tell us
