During the past few years, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York enacted “wage theft laws” that have significantly increased the penalties for improperly classifying workers and failing to pay wages due to employees. Moreover, in New Jersey, the Department of Labor and Workforce Development can issue criminal penalties and company-wide “stop-work orders” to employers.

This webinar will discuss how to properly classify workers as employees, independent contractors, or volunteers, and the proper classification of employees as exempt or nonexempt, to avoid these penalties.
