Pro Bono Partnership Receives Generous Grant from Liberty Bank Foundation

Hartford, CT, May 17, 2024 — Pro Bono Partnership (the Partnership) was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from Liberty Bank Foundation to support its work providing nonprofits in the Greater Hartford community with free legal services.

Liberty Bank Foundation is focused on supporting historically underserved communities and low-to-moderate income individuals and families by funding education and affordable housing. As a capacity building organization, the Partnership supports nonprofits doing this essential work by making legal counsel affordable and accessible to all qualifying nonprofits.

Pro Bono Partnership recruits and supports hundreds of volunteer lawyers annually to provide legal services, savings its client nonprofits thousands of dollars that are needed for their programs while enabling them to avoid mistakes, ensure legal compliance, and reduce risk and potential liability. The Partnership is the only organization in the Greater Hartford region providing free legal assistance to qualifying nonprofits.

“Liberty Bank Foundation and the Partnership were both founded in 1997 with a commitment to help local nonprofits build capacity, change lives and improve the well-being of our communities,” said David W. Glidden, Liberty Bank President and CEO and Liberty Bank Foundation President. “Through this grant, the Partnership is offering more resources, expertise and legal services that nonprofits count on to ensure their dollars are being put to work in the most meaningful and impactful ways. We are proud to play a role in building a brighter, bolder future for generations to come.”

Under the terms of the grant, the Partnership will provide direct legal assistance to nonprofits on business and transactional legal matters, to operate a free Legal Resource Helpline through which any charitable organization can speak to an attorney and obtain general information on legal questions and issues affecting nonprofits, and to offer a variety of education programs to help nonprofit staff and board members identify pertinent legal issues, adopt best practices, and avoid potential crises.

In addition to Connecticut, the Partnership also has programs in New York and New Jersey. The Partnership relies on the generosity of donors like Liberty Bank Foundation to fund its work. To learn more about the Partnership, visit probonopartner.org.
