First it was medical marijuana. Then, in 2021, recreational cannabis was added to the menu in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. New marijuana laws are coming to Pennsylvania in 2022. During this webinar, our speakers will cut through the weeds and provide an overview of the significant restrictions that these state marijuana laws impose of employers.

TOPIC WILL INCLUDE

  • Can employers drug test for marijuana at all and if so, under what circumstances;
  • What must employers do before they can drug test employees in order to determine if they are under the influence of illegal substances, or marijuana, at work;
  • What adverse actions, if any, can employers take against lawful users of cannabis;
  • Does it make a difference whether marijuana is used for medical purposes or recreational purposes;
  • New restrictions on conducting background checks as it relates to crimes involving marijuana;
  • The impact of federal laws that classify marijuana as an illegal drug and require federal contractors and grantees to maintain a drug-free workplace; and
  • Practical considerations to help employers navigate the now more complex compliance requirements of these laws.

The presenters are the authors of Pro Bono Partnership’s new article, New Jersey’s Cannabis Laws: A Workplace Overview.
