Honor a Lawyer

The volunteer lawyers working with Pro Bono Partnership labor tirelessly to help nonprofits navigate complex legal issues from incorporation to employment disputes and from mergers to real estate deals. Not only do they help nonprofits better understand and comply with the law, but they also assist organizations in avoiding costly mistakes and incorporating better management processes.

Around the world, lawyers provide pro bono legal services to those who cannot afford representation. The term “pro bono” comes from the Latin phrase “pro bono publico”, which means “for the public good.” This tradition of service goes back centuries, and is rooted in the idea that lawyers have a duty to uphold the rule of law and ensure access to justice for all.

Pro Bono Partnership is founded on these ideals of service. In 2022, 1,488 lawyers volunteered their time with the Partnership to assist 1,022 community based organizations with 2,222 legal matters. Without the donated expertise of these pro bono lawyers, local nonprofits would be forced to spend thousands of dollars to pay a lawyer or forgo legal advice altogether.

More than 98% of nonprofit clients responding to the Partnership’s annual survey rated the services they received as “good” or “excellent.”

Please consider supporting Pro Bono Partnership’s mission by making a donation in honor of a lawyer you appreciate. Your gift will enable the Partnership to continue providing legal support to nonprofits throughout the tristate area, and will tell pro bono lawyers that their efforts are valued.
