Volunteer Spotlight: F. Scott Wilson, Pratt & Whitney

F. Scott Wilson of Pratt & Whitney has been a dedicated volunteer with Pro Bono Partnership since the beginning of our Hartford program in 2008 – and even before! (He volunteered for years with our predecessor program at the UConn SchoolVolunteer Spotlight - F Scott Wilson of Law.) This makes Scott one of our most treasured “Founding Volunteers.” Scott is retiring at the end of this month and we want to take this opportunity to thank him and to recognize his contributions to our program.

Scott’s extensive pro bono work over the last 15 years has focused on a variety of corporate and contract projects, including establishing new tax-exempt organizations, reviewing governance documents, drafting membership agreements, winding down and dissolving organizations, and getting clients back on track with the IRS. His clients have included music and arts organizations, a children’s service agency, a social justice organization and a group that teaches yoga to veterans with PTSD, just to name a few.

In addition to his many volunteer legal projects, Scott has also been a huge advocate and champion of pro bono service at Pratt & Whitney. He has acted as one of our key liaisons to Pratt from the very start, and could be counted on to encourage his colleagues to volunteer for projects. He has been a member of the Partnership’s Volunteer Advisory Committee since it was established in 2008, and has been instrumental in securing Pratt’s sponsorship of our regional Volunteer Recognition event for the last 3 years. All along the way he has been a cheerleader for the Partnership, and a friend to this program.

Scott’s longstanding commitment to the Partnership and to our clients has made our Program stronger and has had a direct impact on the Hartford nonprofit community. We honor Scott for all of his hard work and devotion to the Partnership, and we congratulate him on his retirement from Pratt & Whitney.
